Ten of the Very Best Hotels on the Isle of Wight (Based on Personal Experience)

I’m always surprised at how much there is to see and do whenever I visit the Isle of Wight. From its beautiful beaches to its amazing restaurants. But where do I stay the night whenever I go there? To be honest I have a short list of just over 10 hotels that I would class as the best the island of White offers. But I will whittle them down even further to just ten of what I personally consider the best places to stay while on the Isle of Wight…

What I like about The Wight hotel is its price and room size. It is not often I will say a hotel is underpricing itself, but I really do believe this is one of them. I will be honest and tell you the food I have had there has been a little hit and miss. But it has been a lot more hits than misses.

If you like your inn to have a classic countryside pub look and feel this is the place for you. While the rooms themselves are modern and spacious the price for that said room is a little high. You will know if you will enjoy staying here the moment you see the place and even if you are not sure all the staff are super friendly and always ready to help.

I know a lot of people disagree with me about putting chain hotels on this list, but it’s my blog and I believe the best place to stay is the best place to stay, even if that means its a chain hotel like this one. What you get with a Premier Inn is a nice size room at a fantastic price and when compared to others in the same location. Sure, the breakfast is often not worth mentioning, but a good nights sleep in a nice room is far more important.

While it has to be said this hotel and its rooms are looking very dated now I still find it a great place to stay, especially when it comes to price. While I can’t suggest you eat here I do suggest you stay the night as it has that classic sea-side look and feel about it. If you enjoyed this hotel at least once, you will enjoy it time and time again.

While this hotel isn’t half as posh and modern as its price might suggest it still offers a pretty great bedroom for the night. With a spa with an indoor heated pool, it has it all going for itself, but I would like to see the main hotel itself given a little spring clean more often than it does. But in terms of food and staff, I have never had any issues, even when there was something broken in the room (a door on the wardrobe) they were quick to move me to another room no questions asked.

Whenever I stay here I always feel like I am ripping off the hotel due to the price being so low. With some stunning views, a squash court, pool and other outdoor activities you would expect to pay a lot more for the night. Sadly you realise why you are paying so little when you start to look into the details of the hotel like the cleanness and the design of the rooms. This is just one of those hotels that needs a little bit of TLC, but the owners know people will keep coming because their prices are so low for what you get. I wouldn’t suggest staying any more than a few nights here as the longer you stay the more cracks you will find.

If you like your hotels to be the best of the best with luxury pouring out of the windows I have to be honest and say you will feel a little limited by choice while on the Isle of White. But The Royal Hotel is just that, a touch or Royal rated luxury and not too expensive. It doesn’t matter what room you stay in as they are all elegant, clean and surprisingly modern. But it is the 5-star facilities and restaurant that really makes this place stand out. While it is probably the most expensive hotel room per night on the Isle of White, it is also one of the very best.

While some people find the rooms here a little too small for their taste I know you pay for what you get and while I will agree some of the rooms are a little…compact you still get a stunning sea-view and all the modern facilities you should expect, including indoor lawn bowling! Just keep in mind the price you are paying per night when you rate it.

What I loved about each of the 5 different nights I stayed here was the consistency of service it offers. The rooms are a nice size and comfortable, the dining is family friendly and it even has an indoor pool! This is one of those hotels it is hard to find fault with, but also hard to put your finger on exactly what you like most about it. This is the best hotel for a weeks stay for sure, it has a great location, amazing views and you will always feel right at home.

I challenge you to take my word for it and stay the night here because it really is one of the very best places to stay the night on the Isle of White. There is only one word that sums this hotel up and that is “lovely” lovely staff, lovely room, lovely food and while some might say its a little overpriced I say it is bang on price for the quality of service and the modern, spacious rooms. For me and my family, this place is what staying at a sea-side B&B is all about.
