Top 10 Amazing Ring Donuts and Recipes

Sometimes these top 10’s are not so much about what I want to write about, but more what I HAVE to write about! You see last week after my post “Top 10 Amazing Doughnuts” I had to equal the books out. The problem is that most people (no matter where in the World they live) see a donut as a ringed donut, not the filled kind that I know about here in the UK. So let’s make things a little more even…

So when is a ring donut not a ring donut? When it is a square one! These might not be the classic “ring” style, but I just had to bring them to you because I have never seen them before, but apparently over in Indiana, USA they are quite common!

These are just about as healthy as a donut is going to be. They are low-carb, grain-free and gluten-free and look delicious! Best of all is that they are only 153 Calories each!

Mini Cheerio Donuts

Not only do they look amazing, not only do they only have 31 Calories in each, but there is also a FULL recipe and making guide in the link! But I have to be honest and say that I would personally need a bowl full just to touch the sides!

Cat Donuts

It is no good rubbing your eyes, these really are cat shaped ring donuts! Inspired by an anime series called “one Nya hup” they are, sadly there is no making guide as they are only available in Japan, but maybe someone would be kind enough to send us some!

Fruity Pebble Frosted Doughnuts

OK, it is not that kind of fruit. But these doughnuts that are infused with “Fruity Pebbles” cereal are a pure joy to look at and also come with a first class recipe and making guide.

You just knew bacon would have to come into it somewhere along the line and so it does with these rather tasty sounding maple bacon ones. Apparently, this is quite a popular donut and the real good news is we can make it ourselves with the full recipe and guide!

Green Tea Donuts

3 – Tea for two and donuts for one!

Before we dismiss these Green Tea donuts maybe it is time to change the way we see the words “Green Tea” Turns out these are quite pretty popular in Japan and are becoming more and more popular in the US and Europe, so maybe we should give them a chance.

Doughnut Grilled Cheese Sandwich

2 – Grilled Donuts?!?

I love nothing more than grilled cheese on toast (Welsh rarebit as we call it) and so it will come as no surprise to find what I think is just about the most awesome donut I have ever heard of or indeed seen! Words alone can not say just how much I want to try these.

Breaking Bad Meth Donuts

1 –  Breaking the crime ring.

There are not many donuts that are bad, but these Breaking Bad ones are as badass as they come! But I have to say that while I do think they are amazing to look at, teaching kids that it is “fun” to eat Meth is never the best idea. But controversy aside I loved them!

  1. I think they would taste significantly better than the round ones because: = (2x – 2)²
    = 4x² – 4x – 4x + 4
    = 4x² – 8x + 4

    Value of x:
    2x – 2 = 0
    2x = 2
    x = 1

    Answer: x = 1; expanded form, 4x² – 8x + 4!

    Glad we cleared that one!

  2. Great Post ! But I think I gained 10 lbs. just looking at the pictures and now I have to go to my friendly neighborhood Donut shop.
    My best to you.

  3. You are SO cool. I want to try them all, and am sending the link to my nephew who works in Hollywoooood….he’ll love this 🙂 (Breaking Bad Meth Donuts…)

  4. My favorite is the local Dunford Chocolate Cake Donut, which is just as good as it sounds. Cakey inside, chocolate ganache outside, perfect for dipping in milk. Mmmm…. I think I might need to go shopping…

  5. they may – here dunkin has a wonderful pumpkin spice donut. have any apple orchards who make their own cider? Also – back in NJ where I grew up there is an orchard that makes incredible donuts – they may ship???? of course by the time you get them…..well making a bread pudding with them could be good. 😉

  6. I buy – there is a local cider mill here that is open a short season in the fall – they pump out those donuts like you wouldn’t believe! YUM!

  7. I swear, you have the coolest blog!
LOVE this one especially…mainly cause I live in NC where the almighty Krispy Kreme’s started…when those puppies come straight off that belt and you bite into piece of heaven….
Anyway…how can you not love that little box of cheerio donuts?
    Awesome post!

  8. I’ll admit the Apple Cider Donuts caught my attention. They seem to embrace the season we’re in. However, as a diabetic I’d have to carefully check all the exchanges and would probably have to do a great deal of substituting. The square donuts are interesting but not enough for me to indulge. And, as with you, don’t bother with the mini donuts. Even at 35 calories each they don’t tickle my fancy. If I’m going to eat, I want to be able to savor whatever it is and one of those mini donuts would never cover all the basics. Fun list.

  9. The Breaking Bad made me laugh. I want to try a square donut. I wonder if it tastes different than round. But what I really want to try is a maple bacon. With coffee, please.

Which one did you like?
