Top 10 Best Images of Cats Behaving Strangely

Just when I thought our little feline friends couldn’t get any stranger I saw something that set the weird-o-meter shooting off the scale. While at a friend’s house I saw his cat sit facing the wall and just stare! There was nothing there (that I could see) and it sat there for well over an hour!!! But the worst part of it all is that when I came home and look up the reasons why it might have done such a strange thing, I found out that cats do it all the time…

  1. Great posts also on the dogs, aquariums, bunk beds, couches, and others. I haven’t left comments on all the posts I’ve read here, but they’ve all been great!

  2. Cats are my very favorite kind of people, so a post featuring them can’t go wrong!

The caption for #10 is great! And so is the one for #7!

My cat has a disturbing tendency of staring at the wall or ceiling for an extended period of time. It’s most unnerving when the spot is just over your shoulder… it’s very freaky!

I haven’t got a picture to show you, but sometimes when she is asleep on my bed she has her head smushed right into the mattress. I cannot figure out how she manages to breath like that!

  4. Russell, I should have left lots of smileys. I was only joking around and I’m not good at it. (But I’m always trying.) Dogs are so predictable in their behaviour and so fawning. Cats are dignified and never let you know what they’re thinking. Those pictures were hilarious.

  5. I am still laughing out loud. I currently have 5 cats and have never ever seen any of my cats exhibit this behavior. Now, dogs on the other hand… I used to have a little poodle that would stare at the corner of a wall. I thought she was seeing ghosts or something but somebody told me it was a symptom of senility. Go figure.

  6. I can’t say they face random walls but there are times where I’ll just look over at them and they are staring at me with HUGE hypnotizing eyes! And then there are 2 questions I always ask myself: #1 How long have they been staring at me? #2 What the hell is behind me? LOL!

  7. Not really no. But I think it has something to do with the weather myself. But someone offered this:” We finally figured out that there was one spot on the wall where light from streetlamps and headlights from a nearby diagonal street filtered across three back yards, past our blinds, and onto a little dot on the wall, that flickered minutely and that is why our cat always faced the wall.”

  8. Russell, my wife is so allergic to cats and the sad thing is, she loves them!! I had to show her these and I thought she was going to die laughing! We can handle dogs so we have one right now as her sister passed away last November, but even though they have great personalities and such, they are nothing compared to the antics of cats!! Thanks so much for the laugh! We both needed it today sir! “A merry heart does good like a medicine!” God bless as you continue to serve us with greatness!

  9. You did it again, Russell. You made me laugh hysterically! But, really, it’s not so unusual (as your photos show).. Cat’s stare at “nothing” all the time. I think it’s their way of tuning out the world when they are getting too much visual or auditory stimulation — not to be too analytic about it. Or maybe they do their best thinking this way. 🙂

    I couldn’t choose a favorite. I loved them all.

  10. I’ve had cats all my life but this sort of behaviour is new to me. Perhaps it’s the way they’ve been raised? Hilarious post, thanks,Russell.

  11. We, cat people, know that cats are not really from this world. 🙂 May be they communicate with their domain when they behave like this. Thank you for your posts, Russell! I always look forward to reading them and looking at your fabulous photos!

  12. I love Caturday! My cat always ignores me when I collect her from the cattery because I’ve been on holiday without her. These feisty felines taking blanking their owners to a whole new level!

  13. I will have to see if I can get a short video of her playing with her friend. It freaked me out the first time she did it when she was quite young. She’s 5 now and still plays with her friend! The clock thing is recent. She is full of surprises.

  14. My female cat has an imaginary friend. She plays with ‘it’ all the time. She also likes to get on the back of the couch and try to make the clock stop. haha! I really need to carry a camera more often. Cute stuff Russell. 🙂

  15. Definitely send the weirdo-meter go off the charts. I have never seen a cat do that – was there an explanation for it? I don’t expect logic, just curious. The captions definitely make make me giggle. Cats entertain in so many ways, they always surprise me. I miss having a cat.

  16. Reblogged this on Kori Miller Writes and commented:
This has nothing to do with writing. I love cat humor. Anyone who knows me, knows that. So, I saw this post. Why the heck are these cats doing this? I think there’s a story here somewhere. Maybe this does have something to do with writing after all.

I must contemplate these cats and their strange behavior.

  17. Cats (and dogs) can be really creepy sometimes. My dog growing up would start barking at the air in the hallway, never anything there that we could see. Always wondered what she saw.

  18. “Worse…TARDIS….ever!”–This made me laugh out loud!! I’ve been treated to the cat back before. I guess they think, “I’ll show you. Here’s a taste of my back!” All I can do is shake my head.

  19. I knew a cat that did this when she was upset. She would also throw up in the purses of people she didn’t like.

  20. Too wonderful. Ah, cats. What are they thinking. I wonder if it’s for an oxygen rush, a kind of ‘chambering’. It has a nice warming comfort level if one does it to oneself with hand over face. Mystery creatures. Thanks for the treat.

  21. The only incident I can remember of a cat staring at the wall was my big gray cat. We heard him crying, and found him on the porch, in the corner. He would not move. We brought him in, and he promptly ran upstairs to another corner. We should have paid more attention – a huge thunderstorm was on its way with a tornado that touched ground a few miles away. Now, when my tuxedo cat hides out in the hall, I turn on the radio for a weather report!

  22. I have never seen my cats (2 of them) stare at a wall, but it does freak me out when they go to the front door and listen intently out of the blue and while I hear nothing they obviously hear something. Other than that I have seen them chase and play with what looks like nothing and that only usually makes me laugh

  23. I think cats do this when they’re upset and angry with the people around. They know they can’t get the better of people so they blot them out.

  24. Hilarious! BTW, it is ‘stare’ not ‘stair’ (as in, climbing up the stairs…) 🙂

  25. I’m laughing so hard right now. If only I didn’t have a splitting headache at the same time. I’ll get a cat just to experience this first-hand.

Which one did you like?
