Ten of the Very Best Hotels in Somerset, England (Based on Personal Experience)

Living in Wales I know that whenever I fancy some good shopping or a nice day out Somerset is just over the bridge and Bristol and Bath have me covered. While this isn’t a long distance for me to drive in a day there have been times when I just wanted to stay the night somewhere in Somerset and this top ten is based on my personal experience…

While it is more the point of location that keeps people coming back to this Inn its Tudor-style with strangely modern rooms makes it the perfect place to stay. While good quality inns and hotels are a little sparse in this area I would still recommend staying here even if there was many more.

While you wouldn’t want to stay too long here due to its high prices it is still a pretty nice place to stay for a few nights. With its upscale Georgian theme and large rooms, this is one of those hotels you will want to have your wedding at after staying for a single night. Just be warned there is an open lake that isn’t fenced off so you might want to keep an eye on the little ones.

Premier Inn Weston-Super-Mare Lympsham, Bleadon, Weston-super-Mare

There are several Premier Inn hotels in the Somerset area, but one of the very best is the one in Weston-super-Mare. If you have stayed in any Premier Inn hotel you will know what to expect here as the rooms are pretty much generic across the franchise. It is a nice room, great price and not too far away from WSM beach. While it is still a drive to the beach for the price you are paying it is still worth staying here.

While this is not the place for kids this elegant hotel offers large upscale rooms and even throws in a free breakfast. While you will choke on your sausage when you see the price you are paying per night you would have had a great nights sleep and with its location in Bath, it just about justifies its high asking price.

What I enjoyed about The Oak House is just how relaxed every day is with them. Nothing is too much hassle for the friendly staff and the rooms are warm and comfortable. While its nothing special its the relaxed atmosphere that makes it so worthy of a nights stay.

With its 18th-century style and modern rooms with all the modern things we have come to expect, this is one of those hotels that you will feel like you are ripping them off it is so cheap! While it is not the biggest hotel it offers friendliness and great rooms at a crazy price. What is not to love about that?

If you are planning to visit the Castle Neroche ruins this might be one of the best places to stay that is close to it. With cosy, warm rooms and the usual modern needs like a TV and WIFI, this is one of those inns that you will want to make your home. If you stay more than a few nights you might start to see how dated it looks, so keep it short and sweet is my advice.

With its vaulted brick ceilings this historic hotel has a look that hasn’t changed much for over 100 years, but yet the rooms are modern looking, warm and comfortable! While the price per night here is a little high it is worth looking out for a deal and even asking at the reception desk for a small discount for multiple nights.

While it was built in the 1600’s the rooms are still a fair size and there is free Wi-Fi to be enjoyed. I have to say the food is well worth staying the night for especially if you like your dinners large and filling. Just remember that I did say it was built in the 1600’s so if it looks a little dated give it a break.

And lastly, I went for this luxury and very contemporary hotel that even has its own golf course and spa! With large rooms, free WiFi and parking and a load of other modern hotel luxuries this is the hotel for those who don’t want the hassle. For those who just want to unwind and relax. Plus as a bonus, it is only a 15-minute walk from Bridgwater train station!
