Paining pebbles and rocks to look like animals can be fun for the whole family. But some of the world’s more talented artists have been doing the same and creating the most lifelike looking animals that are nothing more than rocks and pebbles…
10 – Lizard – cre-art.blog.hu/2011/06/01/csodalatos_kofestes
Against a white background it might not look all that realistic, but in the right setting, you could fool anyone because lizards don’t move much anyway!
9 – Fish – forum.xcitefun.net/painted-rocks-t18216.html
Out of the water, it is easy to see that it’s a rock, but placed in some moving water you might well believe it is a real fish, just one that doesn’t move.
8 – Fox – www.flickr.com/photos/happyrocks/9438857526/in/photostream
This is a good example of using the matching scenery to fit in with the animal. While the rock might be a lot smaller than a real fox it still has that same level of realism that the rest have.
7 – Butterfly – flickr.com/photos/20431976@N00/2449228763/in/set-72157604010080340
Alika-Rikki teaches us that you don’t have to paint the whole rock to make a realistic animal. The use of shadows here is amazing let alone the detail.
6 – Frog – www.pinterest.com/pin/571183165216961670
You could well imagine that if you place this in a pond or small water feature it would easily fool people into thinking it was a real frog. Some waterproof acrylic paint is all you would need!
5 – Rabbit – s306.photobucket.com/user/little_arteest/media/rock-bunny.jpg.html
Has your child been asking for a pet rabbit for a while now? Why not make them look after this rock for a few weeks so they get used to all the hard work and bed cleaning.
4 – Cat – www.robertorizzo.com
This perfect photo recreation on a rock is made by Roberto Rizzo who is probably one of the greatest rock artists you will ever see. It’s well worth clicking on the image just to see the rest from this artist because they are all just as good as this one.
3 – Bird – www.rengezablog.blogspot.com.tr/2014/03/taslar.ile.yaraticilik.butunlesince.html
There are literally thousands of painted pebbles made to look like birds, but none that come close to how realistic this one is. You could almost forgive people for trying to feed it bread!
2 – Hampster – luftundfarben.blogspot.co.uk/search/label/DaWanda
I once owned a hamster who look just as fat and fluffy as this one. Only mine was real and not a painted pebble. This looks so good I want to stroke it! There not many rocks on the beach I would say that about.
1 – Horse – www.wetcanvas.com/forums/showthread.php?t=947059
By adding a little bit of scenery, this horse is just about as realistic as they get! In fact, I had to check to make sure it wasn’t just a cartooned photo!
