With so many blogs out there how do you get your own little leap into the world of blogging to stand out from the rest and make a real impact on the web? There are hundreds of ways to improve a blog, but I think these ten tips are the best…
10 – Headlines
By making those post headline titles “must read” in style, you are greatly increasing your ability to grab a reader’s eyesight.
9 – Mixed Up Media
Some people like to read a blog post, others like to hear it, and some like to watch it! So make sure you have a good mix of every sort of media there is.
8 – Be Controversial
It might not be the best way to get noticed, but it works every time. By throwing a few cats among the pigeons you will soon get noticed, all be it for all the wrong reasons.
7 – SEO
99% of all bloggers will never do any SEO which is one of the biggest mistakes. Even if you do little more than adding titles and metadata to each post, at least it’s something. You don’t have to be an SEO master, just understand what those big search engines are looking.

6 – Content Flow
By making sure a reader can find what they are looking for is a fundamental part of blogging. Get a search bar, make sure those menu items are perfect and make sure you have those “Native Content” and “Next & Previous” buttons active. It keeps them on site for longer, even if they can’t really find what they come looking for in the first place.
5 – Theme Consistency
This is not the same as checking your theme is user-friendly, it is about making sure your blog keeps a constant theme through a reader’s path. Are those buttons or menu items really what people are looking for or expect?! If not, change them!
4 – Footer
It might sound like a pointless thing to worry about, but by making sure your footer is easy to read and well laid out you will have the perfect blog post ending every time. Maybe stick an email in there, and some links to other parts of your site. Make sure if they do get down that far (and lots of people do) that they can carry on past that point. It’s no good sticking with a “Powered by WordPress” it needs to be a decent ending.
3 – Theme
When it comes to people first visiting your website, you need to make sure they will enjoy what they see and read. By making sure the theme perfectly suits your style of blogging is a big must. And don’t forget to keep that theme constant across all social media channels as well.

2 – Awards
I’m not talking Pulitzer Prize here, I am talking badges that show you are top in a certain blog category, or someone made you their blog choice of the week. Any praise you get from anyone anywhere is a badge and you should wear it with pride and don’t forget to tell people you own it.
1 – Consistency
This is the hardest thing to do, but get it right and you will soon be tall and proud. But let that consistency slip a little and you will be right back down into the pit of unstable posting time blogs, and that is a big pit to fall into, filled with 99.9% of all other blogs.
At the end of the day, there is only one thing stopping you, and that is you! If you really want to make your blog work and are willing to put those hours in and make sure that quality is always at a constant level you will succeed and that is a fact! But it is a long road to walk, blogging really isn’t easy but done right the rewards are massive
