Steampunk is one of those things I just don’t get. So with that in mind, I thought it was about time I did a top 10 about Steampunk inspired items…

What I like about this one is that it is affordable. If I wanted to go out to a Steampunk themed party I simply couldn’t afford most the hats you will see in this top 10, so for this one not costing the Earth I wanted to included it. And it looks rather cool indeed!

With the LED light, this one embodies all that is Steampunk. From the look, design and most probably feel it is nothing short of a work of art by the very talented Jade Dragonne.

Made by Disney Design Group artist Costa Alavezos these amazing Mickey mouse Steampunk hats were made to celebrate the opening of the “Mechanical Kingdom” and are ridiculously cool. Sadly they can only be brought within the Mechanical Kingdom its self.

This is said to have belonged to Professor Tursiart during his hunt of the Crimson Abbagoochie, a mysterious and fearsome beast terrorising the New West Virginia Colonists. Sounds like a great adventure, and you can buy this little piece of Steampunk history for yourself over on ETSY.

With a kind of mad hatter theme going on as well, this hat is nothing short of being cool. With Trim, gears, keyhole, clock, winder and a key or two it is very well designed indeed.

These hats are not just for humans you know! Some animals love all that is Steampunk and like to wear them as well. And I think this cat looks very cool indeed.

Made from hand stitched vegetable tanned leather then covered with hand-woven kangaroo lace this really is the best of the best. The Goggles are apparently a little extra but even without them, this would be very cool indeed.

  3. I just don’t get all this post industrial steam-punk theming. Is it art of some sort of fashion movement?

  4. I have no trouble admitting haven’t a clue what Steampunk is – is it only hats or are there other things to wear? I find the hats fascinating – they seem to be decorated with all kinds of things. Makes start thinking what I would put on one if I made one. Of course I always enjoy a cat in the mix – cool cat!

  5. These are really cool and so creative! I have to admit to knowing of the style but never having heard of the term ‘Steampunk’ before! Not something I could see myself wearing on a daily basis but great for fancy dress parties! Great post! 🙂

  6. Hell Russell! Where would we find the money to buy just the parts, let alone the skill and imagination to make them? ROFL!

  7. Simply wonderful Russell!

I would buy two or three of these hats in a moment… if I had the money!

A great post, I really enjoyed it!

  8. Not quite my cup of tea but love the creativity exhibited. Can’t really see myself wearing any of them though I do love hats and enjoy the occasional steampunk book. The Time Keeper was my favorite.

  9. This is so cool. I actually like them all…it gives me an idea that I should start collecting hats and decorate them- kind of quasi- steampunk. It looks as if the topd needs to be a certain height/ shape, thus the quasi element. great post!!

  10. I agree but I believe you are in England where people are civilized and speak English. Here near Orlando there is a Mickey Mouse scheme to everything. The House of Mouse and Universal and Sea World predominate. I like a little culture with my cottage cheese.

  11. I get the feeling that folks who sport Steampunk hats are not the kind who are inclined to sit on a couch, watch a football game, and drink brewskis.

Which one did you like?
