Top 10 Amazing and Unusual Themed Fish Tanks

There comes a time in life when every parent has to go through something that makes us very proud to be parents. The other day it was my turn. My little boy asked if he could have a goldfish! His very first goldfish! It is a big moment in his life and one that makes me happy to be his father. So I got onto Swell UK fish tanks and brought a cool Peppa Pig themed aquarium (Because he loves Peppa), but how does it stack up against other themed aquariums? Let us find out…

Sure it is not so much an Aquarium, more a Sea Monkeys tank, but it is still themed. It looks amazing, but you just know it is not even half as big as you think it is going to be and that can be very disappointing for a child’s first pet tank.

Now I am all for trying to make a goldfish as happy as I can, with some plants, stones and a touch of theming, but to make them their very own house as a theme is something that I would never do despite how funny it looks.

Who lives in a pineapple under the sea? Well, in this case, it is someone’s fish! I really like this is while you can’t buy it, you could just buy the things a place them inside the tank. But I would maybe check with an Aquarium expert before doing that.

Pirate Themed Aquarium

This theme makes perfect sense! With a pirate figurine and a full on ghost ship galleon in the tank as well it looks amazing, but how much would it all cost is the big question! But I am sure not matter what sea life you placed inside of it, they will love it!

What I love about this tank is that there is no expensive theming, just a great use of some basic tank decorations and a perfectly framed background image! Sometimes it is not all the things you place inside of the tank, but the background theme that gives it the impression of theming. And it does have to be said that this one work really well indeed.

Going for the planted theme tank is a really good option. It not only looks natural, the internal and external ambience of it is worth all the effort alone, let alone how it looks! The only probably I can see here is that some plants can be deadly for certain fish so it would take a lot of know-how or an awful lot of questions to pull it off.

I want this fish tank now! But sadly it is just an idea at the moment but apparently, it might well become very real soon. (just not yet) But for any Dr Who fan it would be a great idea and one that I am sure a lot of kids will love as well.

While being a Star Wars fan I do love this, but sadly given the fact that it is only big enough for up to 2 tadpoles for the price it is a bit of a rip-off! But maybe you could ditch the tadpoles and just buy a squid and call him Admiral Ackbar!

This jaw dropping fish tank is sadly a one off, but the good news is that there is a full on making guide if you fancy having a go yourself! But me being a nerd I bet you are all wondering what could possibly be better than this? Well, there is just one thing….

Any parent would know why I made this number 1, because to my little boy this is the most grown up, adult thing I have ever let him have. The tank is massive, great value and themed enough to create the illusion of fish in a Peppa pig world and the filter keeps the water crystal clear so he can see his fish. So is it any good? Well to my little boy it was perfect, and the best fish tank in the whole wide world, and that is good enough for me.

  1. I’m sorry to burst your bubble, but all of those aquariums are far to small for goldfish. Goldfish can grow to 30cm long and live for easily 15 years if kept in good condition. Sadly, there is the myth perpetuated by unethical shopkeepers that goldfish are the ideal beginner fish and ‘grow to the size of their tank’. A suitable tank would be at least 150 litres, with a large canister filter.

Please consider upgrading your tank. I doubt that that fish will live long.

Edit: Just saw this was posted last year. Lol.

  2. I love LOVE the fact that the Peppa Pig tank is number one. Or at least, THAT Peppa Pig tank is. Because you are right, it *IS* number one to a small boy whose dad loves him.

  3. You are right, just like Easter Island. And Peppa pig is a children’s TV show, the point behind it was that any fish tank themed to something a child loves will mean they love it just as much as the show. Even today I can still remeber having my own first gold fish, I called it Jaws! *LOL*

  4. #8 looks more like Easter Island with the big stone heads buried in the earth rather than Sponge Bob. Of course, there had to be Mario and Dr. Who, otherwise it wouldn’t be complete. Please explain Peppa Pig.

  5. I have always wanted a fish tank and never had one. I find them mesmerising and would probably watch it like a TV junkie 🙂 One day! I liked the Buddha one best – I’ll make a note in my new Organiser and bear in mind the danger of some plants….

  6. Funny you should say that. Once we had a snail in with the fish and his job was to keep the inside of the glass clean. Only problem was he thought the fish were his reward and he kept eating them.

  7. I think that sounds like a wonderful idea, or maybe it will come out as a snail house! (I have also done this for my little boy)

  8. Aren’t these fun. Many years ago my sister gave our girls a fish tank complete with a fish each for Christmas. They got so much pleasure from it over the years. The girls are both in their mid-twenties now but the tank only went away last year when Fish, who was nearly ten years old, went to the big fish tank in the sky. Maybe it will come out again when there are grandchildren to entertain.

Which one did you like?
