Coral reefs seem to have the ability to inspire artists and fill them with creativity. All over the world, various artists have tried to recreate and capture what makes them so special by making sculptures. And they use some unusual things to make them…
10 – Artist: Steven Loar
We all know there is a problem with plastic bottles in the sea, and Steven Loar uses this fact to make this amazing sculpture. You’ll soon realise that a lot of these are made to raise awareness about environmental issues.

I dread to think how many hours it has taken to make this coral reef sculpture from folding bits of paper, but it was well worth the effort.
8 – Artist: John Pennekamp
While most aquarium coral sculptures are made from Fiberglass as well, it is still impressive how realistic they can make them look.
7 – Artist: Sarah Whisk
Created for a 6th birthday party she is one lucky girl to have such a very creative mum.

6 – Artist: Larry Moss
I give credit to anyone who can make so much as a dog out of balloons, let alone a section of the coral reef!
5 – Artist: Warren Elsmore
While not as vast as some of the reefs seen there it is still impressive to make anything this good from those little plastic blocks.
4 – Artist: Disney
This amazing mosaic can be found on a wall in Disney’s Cabanas restaurant. It must have taken ages!
3 – Artist: Helle Jorgensen
Sure it looks amazing, but this is also a very clever ecological statement from Helle Jorgensen. It is made from all the rubbish the tide brings ashore on the beach near her home to raise awareness about sea pollution.

They always make people smile and they’re colourful and well textured. It seems cocktail umbrellas make the perfect coral reef
1 – Artist: Lynn Aldrich
Have you ever noticed how colourful and vibrant cleaning materials are? Lynn Aldrich did and made one of the most amazing coral reefs you could imagine.
