Ten of the Very Best Hotels in Dorset (Based on Personal Experience)

Are you looking for a nice place to stay the night somewhere in Dorset, located in the South West of England? Well, I have stayed in lots of hotels in that area and here is my top 10 list of the best hotels in Dorset. While it has been some time since I stayed in some of these places I would still vouch for them being pretty great…

While the “private island” part of this hotel is vastly overrated it is the clean, modern rooms that each have a touch of class and style that really makes this hotel worth staying in. The river views are pretty nice and nothing feels rushed here, its just a simple, relaxing place that easily justifies its own high prices.

Its close proximity to the wonderful town of Poole is what makes this hotel so convenient. With featuring period furniture and plush furnishings this hotel is as classic as they come and while there are a few modern luxuries like WIFI and a flat-screen TV’s in all the rooms it still tries to stay as classic as it can.

Premier Inn, Pope St, Dorchester

For my money, this is one of the best chain hotels in the area. While prices of these hotel rooms don’t change much no matter where they are located it is still pretty cheap compared to many, many others in the area. You know what you get and expect with a Premier Inn and this place is no exception.

With a restaurant that is good enough to visit without staying the night and pretty great views from most of the rooms this upscale, contemporary hotel is both modern and stylish. While it does have to be said some of the facilities in this hotel are not up to scratch in terms of amount and size it still has them. It is maybe a little overprices in my eyes, but shop around and you should be able to grab a bargain.

When it comes to hotels in Bridport it is often somewhere to park that separates the best from the rest and luckily this hotel has plenty of room. Don’t let the name put you off staying here as it is a lot more stylish and modern than you would think. With helpful, friendly staff I have never had a bad night here even when it was at its busiest.

Heck, even the food is pretty great! A night here makes you think like you have got the bargain of the century.

If you want a dog and family-friendly hotel this might well be the one to try. Located less than a mile from Bournemouth Airport and located right on the edge of the New Forest, this modern pub hotel was once a railway station and the current owners have kept a lot of the original decals. While nothing about this hotel and pub-style restaurant is amazing it is all warm and comforting. Even the rooms are that amazing, but they are all clean, tidy and spacious enough for most peoples needs.

If you have plans to visit Monkey World in Dorset you might consider staying here. With classy, polished rooms and all the modern facilities, you might expect it is an underrated hotel that doesn’t get as much credit as it deserves. Maybe its the higher than expected price for that area that puts a lot of people off it, but I say its worth the price especially for the nice size rooms.
