The day I saw my newborn son for the very first time was a very proud and happy moment. But while I do love him with all my heart I am also too aware that newborns can look a little…potato like. But the same is not true for the animal kingdom. In fact often the newborns are even cuter than their adult counterparts…

10 – Octopus
The adult counterparts can often be seen as some of the biggest monsters of the deep. But while just a few hours old they look as cute as a button! In fact, this small species when born only measure 1mm in diameter and 3mm from leg to leg point!
9 – Otters
Cute, playful and full of childlike inquisitiveness, and that is just the adults! Otters are a fairly well know and much love animal anyway, but as newborns they are just so cute it hurts my eyes just to look at them!
8 – Porcupine
A newborn baby porcupine is called a porcupette, and I which I had this guy as a pet! As an adult with fully grown spikes, he will be something to be feared. But as a baby he is, tiny, furry and something to be loved and held.

I didn’t know elephants had fur when they are born. Maybe it goes back to the days of woolly mammoths. He is super cute, though.

You could not look an adult giraffe in the eyes that is for sure, but as a newborn their wobbly legs need a little helping hand sometimes and that is why the keeper here is giving this newborn a little help.

Bats are often called the flying rodents of the night, but as babies there is something highly lovable about them! I think it is those deep, dark eyes then seem to draw you into them.

I don’t think I will be alone in saying that I thought Koalas couldn’t get any cuter if they tried. But how wrong was I!? As a child, they have an almost inquisitiveness about them, and those baby ears are the best!

Well, I don’t know about anyone else but I hate spiders I really do. But this newborn baby house spider somehow looks cute in a sad eyes kind of way! It doesn’t change how I feel about it as an adult, but I do love this little chap!

Even while they are newborn platypuses are highly poisonous despite their blind and almost hairless state. And just when you thought this animal could not get any stranger the newborns suckle milk from the mother which she expelled through skin pores on her body! Cute yes, but also very, very strange.
