You spend a lot of time planning your vacation. Chances are, you’ve planned plenty of things to do throughout the days you’re away, but have you thought about how you’re going to spend your evenings?
The evening is a good time to unwind and relax. That’s especially the case if you have experienced a busy day! If you’re looking for a fun way to spend your vacation evenings, give these ideas a try.
Catch a Show
One of the best and easiest ways to kill some time and enjoy yourself in the evening when you’re on vacation is to catch a show. Chances are, you’ll be able to find one where you’re staying.
Shows can include musical acts, as well as comedians, magicians, and more. Many shows, especially those located in major cities, combine shows with dinner so you won’t have to worry about where you’re going to eat either!
You can make things even easier by choosing a vacation package where you’re staying. Vacation packages can include multiple shows, as well as stays in a hotel, so you can book your evening entertainment long before you leave home.
Lounge by the Pool
There are a lot of great things about swimming pools. That’s why so many hotels have them, but strangely, they are underutilized. Most vacationers simply don’t have enough time to lounge by the pool. However, it’s a great way to spend an evening.
Outdoor pools are more enjoyable than indoor pools when the weather is warm, but there can also be something cozy about lounging by the pool in a swimsuit while you watch the snowfall outside. Whether you’re watching the kids or you just want a boost in your mood, the pool should be your first stop in the evening.
Eat Somewhere New
There are a lot of great things about traveling. One of the best is getting to try new foods.
If you’re looking for a way to spend an hour or two in the evening, look for a local restaurant. Avoid chain restaurants as they’ll just serve the kind of food you’re used to eating at home, and that’s no fun!
However, chain restaurants can do in a pinch. Make eating at a familiar haunt more exciting by ordering something off the menu that you usually avoid.
A restaurant is a great way to spend an evening because it can last as long as you would like. After dinner is over, ask to look at the drink menu if you aren’t ready to go home. It’s a great way to sit back, relax, and you may even meet a few new friends at the bar.
Search for an After-Hours Adventure
There are a lot of activities during the day. From museums to shopping, you can fill every moment of the day with things to do. Unfortunately, your options become limited when the sun goes down.
You don’t necessarily have to drag yourself to the local club if you want to stay up late! Many cities have fun things to do at night, if you know where to look.
A few examples of after-hours activities include:
- Museums that host art nights
- Zoos that host cocktail hours
- Aquariums that host sleepovers
Go on a Ghost Tour
Ghost tours are especially popular at some locations. They are a great way to get out of the hotel in the evening, but they’re a great way to learn more about the city where you’re staying too. Most tour guides tell you interesting tidbits about the city that you won’t hear on a regular tour.
Order Room Service
Going out and finding things to do in the evening when you’re on vacation is fun, but don’t think you have to leave your room in order to have a good time. Sometimes, staying in is just as much fun!
If you paid to stay in a hotel, why not get your money’s worth and spend time lounging in the bed? Put on a movie and order room service.
Vacation is also a great time to do those things you want to do, but don’t always have a lot of time to do at home. Staying in and journaling or reading a novel can be just as satisfying as any adventure in the city.
Know how to spend your days, but not sure what to do with your nights when you’re on vacation? Give these tips a try and you will definitely have fun when the sun goes down.
Go for a Gentle Walk
Even if that means a little stroll around the grounds of the hotel you can get out and about enjoying the night air. Even if it’s raining outside why not explore inside the hotel! See the different floors and see all of that the hotel has to offer.
Catch a Movie
Shows are not the only entertainment in town, there are also cinemas to enjoy! When was the last time you went to the cinema and enjoyed a big old box of popcorn? Maybe tonight is the night you should do so.
Watch the Sun Go Down
Even if that means sitting in your hotel balcony with a few drinks, watching the sun go down with a loved one is the perfect way to relax in the evening and it might even help you sleep better at night so why not give it a go.
Movie Night in the Room
Why not see if there are Pay-Per-View movies on the hotel’s TV system and settle down with a nice movie on the bed. You could even order room service and make a rather romantic night of it. Just make sure the movie is something you both enjoy as it might be the only talking point.
