We get new shoes and trainers all the time, but what are we supposed to do with the old ones? We could throw them away, or we could put them into a charity box, or you could turn them into something amazing! Here are ten ideas to do the latter…
Planters
You really don’t have to do a lot to turn an old shoe into a planter, but I do suggest that you place the plant inside a pot rather than planted directly into the shoe. If you like this idea you can see more of them in my post “https://theverybesttop10.com/shoe-planters/”
Bird House
As long as you pack them with twigs and other things to stop the baby bird from being too far in old shoes and especially boots make great bird feeders. They are probably a bit smelly so you might want to clean them a little before nailing them to a tree.
Garden Art
If you happen to have some old wellington boots (Gumboots) you might want to turn them it this cute rubber boot dog! It doesn’t look that hard really and at least the rubber is easy to cut into shape.
Garden Edging
Much like the planter idea here, but this time a lot of them are also used to make garden edging which might sound odd, but I think it kind of works!

Art Sculpture
I usually keep all my high-heels (just kidding) but if you fancy using an old pair you could always make this rather amazing art sculpture that would look good indoors or out.
Foot Stool
OK, this is a little weird even for me, but it’s also a good talking point if you can make one. It makes good use of a pair of old jeans as well. Of if you make it even taller you could sit on it!
Mirror Frame
If you wear a lot of cowboy boots or leather boots you could always turn some of the older ones into this amazing mirror frame! Or it could just as easily become a picture frame as well.
Coat Hanger
If you like your heels long you could always turn the ones that are not broken into a coat hanger. The more pairs or single shoes you have, the better. This would look nice in a walk-in closet as well.

Jewellery Organiser
If you like to display your rings and earrings you might want to use an old shoe to do just that. All you need to do is make a soft layered insert for the shoe and you are good to go. The bigger the shoe, the more you can display!
BookEnds
If you don’t mind owning some unusual and weird bookends you might want to use an old pair of shoes, boots or heels to make just that. Perfect for all the book worms out there or just those who like to look intellectual.
