I feel kind of bad. You see over the months of doing these posts I have featured far too much junk food. From deep friend goodness, to cakes of all shapes and sizes. So today I thought we could talk about cakes. But these are not ordinary ones, this lot are in fact sandwich cakes…

As you can see these Scandinavian cuisine sandwich cakes can be meat filled like this one (and kind of like the ones in my post “Top 10 Meat Cake Recipes”) or they can be filled with fruits and vegetables of your choice. That is the good things about these cakes, you would only make the with the things you like.

Looking through this list you will soon discover that making your sandwich cake with brown bread instead of white makes it look so much more real. The only hard part you will find is choosing what to have as the sandwich filling.

With ham roses, boiled egg chicks and rolled cheese outer this is one amazing sandwich cake that is for sure. It just goes to show how far people cake them and visually this is the best I have seen, but not making guide with it means it doesn’t rank that high in my top 10.

To some people these sandwich cakes are just like sponge ones and need to be high on presentation as well as taste, so even if it is cucumber people will design them to look amazing as well as taste it.

Normally a bacon and tomato sandwich would get a big “Yes, Please!” from me, but put it into cake form and suddenly I’m not so sure. But I would happily try it even if it was only once.

This one made with mayonnaise, cream cheese, goat cheese, shaved Parmesan and some layer of sliced honey ham looks good to go and could even make a great talking point when placed in a packed lunch for work or school.

This looks strangely like my “Kit Kat Cakes” but of course this is far more healthier that those nasty cakes. With layers of brown bread and a sour cream frosting it is the ultimate fake cake.

Sure the recipe for this one is not written in English, but that is the joy of these Smörgåstårta cakes. You can build your own easily because you should always make them with the things you love in them.

With its hummus filling and thick mayonnaise outer this cake looks as filling as it probably tastes. With cherry tomatoes, radishes, fresh parsley and vegetable broth for moistening it is an all round cake meal and then some.

With brown bread layers with a cucumber and salmon filling this is just about as good as a sandwich cake is going to get. For me it was the topping of egg rested on a mayonnaise cream that makes this one just that touch better and indeed better looking than all the rest of them.
