I will put my hand up and admit that I am not the best online shopper. Sure, I do try and look for a bargain, but then I don’t go looking for vouchers to save even more money. But more and more I am remembering to do this and one thing did surprise me. Looking around the various voucher websites I was surprised by the different ways you can save money with a voucher. It’s not all about the percentages off, there are other sorts of vouchers that you might not have heard of…
10 – Percentage Off
This is the classic X amount of various products and services. While you might think this is the only sort of voucher there is, but there are quite a few other sorts as well.
9 – Set Price
Some vouchers have the ability to offer you something at a set price! Maybe a plant pot that normally costs £40 might only cost £10! These vouchers are great for those of us who are not human calculators.
8 – Free Delivery
This is my favourite kind of voucher. It doesn’t require any maths sum being worked out and it can save you loads on fixed delivery priced items.
7 – Set Selling Prices
This one is almost exclusive to mobile phone / electrical shops, and it basically means you can trade something in (a smartphone or electrical item) and get a set price for them! No guessing what you might get for your trade-in, with this sort of voucher you know even before you have walked into the shop!

6 – Free Trials
From movie sites to dating sites. This voucher lets you ‘try before you buy’ by offering you a free trial of the service. This can often be the perfect way to try something you might have been thinking of using for a long time. Without one of these I would have never joined Netflix, but now I always pay for my subscription all thanks to a simple voucher. Although I do Netflix Binge which is not good, but that is a whole different story!
5 – Running Discounts
These are not vouchers that run away whenever you go near them, they are vouchers that offer you savings month after month, after month! From mobile phone contracts to web hosting services. Using this sort of voucher before you sign up to various contract services can save you hundreds, even thousands of pounds over time.
4 – BOGOF
The classic supermarket offer of ‘Buy One, Get One Free‘ is often used in loads of other shops. From clothes to kitchenware, to hotel rooms to theme park tickets! The saving here can be massive if you use them the right way.
3 – Free Gifts
These vouchers are not to be confused with free items. What they mean is you get a free gift if you spend over a set amount or buy a particular item. You still have to pay for the other things in the basket, but a free gift is always much appreciated because…well, you know…it’s free!

Offering up to a various amount off, you have to apply the voucher before you can discover what it will save you. These are like a pleasant online surprise and used on your favourite shopping sites can be a fantastic way to get much more than you might have bargained for.
