Watching my next-door neighbour paint his fence I realised that my own one needs a little sprucing up as well. After all, you have to keep up with the neighbours! But I want something a little more than a plain wooden fence, I want something that is creative, amazing and unusual. Something like this lot…
10 – Pencils
While there are lots of different styles of pencil fences to see, I think this way is the best because of how easy it is to replicate. Just take some spiked wooden poles, place them side by side and paint the top section only accordingly. A simple idea it may be, but also a very beautiful one.
9 – Surf Boards
With a rather exotic Caribbean feel to it, this fence made of old surfboards is not one that most of us will be able to make yourself due to a lack of surfboards around. But as far as creative fence ideas go, this is a very good one indeed.
8 – Bicycles
While most of us will only ever have 1 or two bicycles over our lifetime this holiday cottage in Spain had loads of them after a failed biking trips business idea. So what better use than to turn them into a beautiful garden border fence! I really like this one it reminds me of a lazy summer day out in the garden. Besides I’ve heard of split-rail fences before but never slip bicycle fencing.
7 – Shoes
Why waste your old shoes by throwing them up a tree-like all those ones in my post “Top 10 Examples of Shoes Tossing” when you could be using them to make a very creative fence! This one located in Australia is filled with thousands of them, but then again, over our lifetimes we will indeed get through rather a lot of shoes!

6 – Playing Cards
Perfect for poker fans, or maybe even the grounds of a posh casino, these oversized playing cards are made from wood, with a simple paint design in the style of playing cards it looks great and is sure to get plenty of heads turning.
5 – Snow Skies
With the winter holiday season well and truly over, why not hang up those skis each year and get new ones ready for the snow holidays ahead! You get some cool new skis, and in return, you also get to use the old ones as a very creative fence! Or maybe you can just by cheap used ones somewhere.
4 – Doors
It is not often you can really call a garden fence “beautiful” but that is exactly what this is. Made from old doors collected from various places it looks slightly rustic at worst and at best it looks nothing short of picturesque.
3 – Plastic Bottles
This fence is made from nothing more than wire and re-purposed water bottles, is well over a mile long and located in the beautiful Swara Plains. Not only a great idea, but it also looks good as well.

2 – Tins
You see rusted tin cans all over the place, so why not make great use of them and upcycle them into a fence just like this one located in New Mexico. Sure you are going to need a lot of tin cans, but even if you have a small family it might surprise you how quickly you could build a whole fence given the amount of things that come in cans these days. (like all those weird things in my post “Top 10 Strangest Canned Foods.”)
1 – Aquarium Fence
When I made my post “Top 10 Unusual Aquariums” I thought I had just about seen it all, but this whole fence surrounding a Villa on the coast of turkey is one giant aquarium! If I had the money I would definitely do this as it not only looks incredible, but it also brings joy to people and drivers passing by!
