When was the last time you enjoyed a game of Bingo online? Maybe a week ago? A Month ago? Whenever it was I bet it is getting less and less frequent. While there are probably loads of reasons we are seeing a decline in online bingo players these ten are the main ones…
It’s an Age Thing!
This is not ageist or me saying only old people play bingo, but what I am saying is older players are often the ones who bring, new, younger bingo players into the game and that is sadly happening less and less mostly down to the next reason…
Bricks and Morter Bingo Halls
This reason goes hand in hand with the first one and that is because it was mostly older adults who went to bingo halls and were often talking about those “big wins” and funny events that got younger players into the game and most those younger players would, of course, play online.
Variety
While I will give credit to sites like Foxy Bingo who keep trying their best to make the game of bingo something new and exciting it is still the same game at heart. Sadly with the variety of online slots more and more online players are playing those instead of bingo.
Sites Closing Down
It seems every day there is yet another Bingo site going up and 2 more going down the pan. While the big name brands are still hanging on in there you are starting to see them advertise less and less and that can only mean their marketing budget is getting smaller and smaller.

Drawn Away
Even with the biggest of Bingo sites, you will notice they don’t just have games of bingo in them, a lot of them have all sorts of casino games from slots to blackjack. With various promotions and free spins people are being drawn away from the main Bingo games and onto slots and other games and yes this is happening on the bigger bingo sites.
Seaside Ban
When I was growing up (a very long time ago) there were bingo games in almost every seaside pier and “fun palace” up and down the land. These days that is of course banned and that means the classic game of bingo is no longer in the public eye as much. This reason probably goes under the “Bricks and Morter Bingo Halls” section of this post, but I thought it was something worth mentioning.
Lack of Bingo Chat
Once upon a time, people would often be heard talking about their “national” bingo wins and those big weekend wins that gave them a life-changing amount of money. While there are still some massive online wins on bingo sites you don’t hear of them unless you were there in the chatrooms when they won it.
The Decline of Holiday Camps
It was holiday camps like Butlins and Pointings where many people got their first taste or playing bingo. These days much like the seaside ban they are banned from letting people under the age of 18 play on them and that is just the few that still have them and trust me, they are very few and far between.

Age Restrictions
While some of the bigger bingo halls like Gala have always had age restrictions it was the seaside bingo games and holiday camps that would let anyone play at any age. It was places like this that got new players into the classic bingo game both in the real world and online. These days you have to be 21 or over just to join a bingo site, let alone play a game of it!
Too Many Bingo Sites?
The last big reason I can think about is closely related to the lack of new players and how online bingo players are just spread thinner amongst the online bingo sites meaning it looks like there are considerably less online bingo players than there actually are. I could name hundreds of online casino sites with bingo games and that is without looking so I can only imagine how many there are in reality from all over the world.
