All that remains from the stress and hassle of Christmas is some piles of wrapping paper on the floor. But to a cat that is a whole play area that is ripe for exploring and attacking. So let the wrapping paper games begin…
10 – “Why are you throwing the best bits away?”
For years my own son was just interested in the Christmas wrapping paper more than the thing it was wrapping. Maybe the first few years that is all you should get kids.
9 – “I’m making a nest!”
Maybe the same should go for cats as well. None of those catnip filled mice, and kitty nibbles under the tree, just get them a big bag of last years wrapping paper!
8 – “You got all this for little me?”
One of the goals in a cat’s life is to be as annoying as possible, and many people think this is the reason the will lay on the paper and generally get in the way.
7 – “They can’t see me, I’m invisible.”
Some people think that cats do it for attention. So if your busy trying to pick all the wrapping paper up they will come and lay on top of it, therefore, making you focus on them, rather than what you were doing.

6 – “Do you mind, I’m busy!”
All cats have their own little idiosyncrasies, some cats hate paper and will run a mile when you star rustling it. But there are also those who will think it is all one big game.
5 – “….soon.”
I have been watching some you-tube films of cats stealing the wrapping paper with his mouths and run away with it! Makes me wonder if they only like wrapping paper because they have gifts of their own to wrap!
4 – “It’s my festive bedding!”
I don’t want to sound like a kill-joy here, but do make sure that your cats don’t swallow any of the paper. Small bits will be OK, but always keep an eye on them.
3 – “I’m asleep in the flowers!”
Let’s face it, it’s often the cat’s owners who are to fault. They will pretend there is something moving under the paper, causing the cat to attack it. Suddenly clean-up time becomes play-time.

2 – “Best…gifts…EVER!”
Some people think that cats love wrapping paper because it will often smell of the giver’s pets. Maybe they have cats or dogs themselves and the sensitive smell of a cat knows this.
1 – “Can I come out, is it 2015 yet?”
So does anyone really know why cats love wrapping paper so much? Well, apparently it is because the paper warms up quickly and this makes rather toasty bedding. In fact, this goes back to them being in the wild and picking warm, but short patched of grass to lay on.
