Over the weeks and months of doing this blog, we have all seen some rather odd, but also rather a cool thing, places and animals. But in truth, it is not that hard to find those sorts of things because, in this crazy upside-down world, there is crazy upside down things! Before this opening text starts to sound more like a Lewis Carroll novel I had better get it started…
10 – Szymbark, Poland
This first upside down building is made by Polish businessman and philanthropist Daniel Czapiewski and at first was an art build with political reasons. But nowadays it is a major tourist destination with regular tours around this very impressive building.
9 – Lille, France
This impressive art installation located in the small town of Lille is made by French artist Jean-François Fourtou, and is well worth a visit because not only is the house upside down, everything inside it is as well!
8 – Putbus, Germany
The thing with all these upside down buildings and houses is that they are mostly made to bring in us tourists. And this large red barn style house made by “Pirateninsel Rügen” is one of the truly big success stories, because before this was built no-one had heard of the village of Putbus. They do now and every year thousands flock to see this very building.
7 – Wisconsin, USA

6 – Incheon, South Korea
This is the “Geokkuro Jip (Upside down house) and is made by a Jeon Yong-sun who was a former clothes designer. Best of all is over the road there is a cafe that is made of tilted houses as well! Well, worth a visit I think.
5 – Magaluf, Spain
This amazing looking, upside down house is in fact part of a theme park! Despite the high Spanish heat, there is a yeti ice cave where you can meet Boro, the Great, carve your name in the Ice Cave and it even has an interactive aquarium!
4 – Münster-Geschinen, Switzerland
The unique sculpture of an upside down shack is made by artists Tina Z’Rotz and Mark Neuenschwander certainly made people stop and stare when it was installed halfway up a mountain near a small village.
3 – Tennessee, USA
This is “WonderWorks” in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee and it began life as a Top Secret research laboratory on a remote island in the Bermuda Triangle. legend has it that a man-made tornado was unleashed throughout the laboratory and it was carried thousands of miles away. Website story behind, it really is a very cool place indeed and I love it!

2 – Terfens, Austria
We have seen many upside down houses in this post, but this one made by “Irek Glowacki and Marek Rozhanski” is extra special because not only is it a full size 8 bedroom house, but EVERYTHING is upside down! The furniture, the car even the toys in the kids rooms!
1 – Glenbow Museum Canada
This amazing art installation is designed by Dennis Oppenheim and is called “Device to Root Out Evil” and for me was the very best example of an upside-down building I could find, and the fact that it is balanced on its steeple is what makes it so cool.
