I have done many posts about recycling and upcycling since starting this blog. From recycled tyres, pianos and old cars we have seen a lot of very creative people make very creative things. But what can people make with an old oil drum? Well, it seems that after they have been washed and cleaned people makes some rather amazing things…
10 – Next stop….recycling!
There are many forms of this liquid drums being used as a land train but I loved this one because it is being pulled by a golf cart! I think I need to have a go in this!
9 – Relight my fire!
This just kind of makes sense. Using an old oil barrel as a BBQ is perfect because of the shape and indeed ease that it can be turned into one. Well worth a go and it looks great!
8 – The Beach Burn
For a shade under £1,000, you to can own one of these impressive portable fit pits that would be perfect for any beach party! Made from various things including oil drums they are well worth checking out, but I thought this was by far the best design.
7 – Dive, dive, dive!!!
Made by Tao Xiangli who is a simple farmer in China this home-made submarine is made from old oil barrels and has a fully functional periscope, depth control tanks, electric motors and two propellers! Well, it impressed me anyway.

6 – Clean up your act!
With the oil company’s trying to clean up their acts, this oil barrel sink shows them the way ahead! They are a little expensive at well over £2000 but good upcycling none the less.
5 – Pure Art!
This very impressive art insulation is jaw-dropping in both size and design. Made up of well over 13,000 oil drums! At 85 ft (26m) tall, 223 ft (68m) wide and a depth of 23.7 ft (7.23 m) it really is well worth visiting the link as seeing the whole thing.
4 – Barrel seats!
They might not look that comfortable, but these oil drum seats are pure class! Costing around £400 each you pay a lot for something recycled but it is well worth the money.
3 – The Storage Drums
Stylish, modern and fantastic recycling, these oil barrel cabinets are rather classy and would look great in any modern home. These you can buy, but it would be much better if a lot harder to make your very own.

With it being no more complicated than a few slots on one side and being half buried this bike wheel holder is an idea born of pure genius! Best of all is that it is not only great recycling but also promotes eco-friendly bike riding!

All it takes is a little bit of paint, some art skills and the odd hanging plant or two and you have yourself some liquid drum characters that will instantly bring a smile to people.
