Ten Garden Benches Made From Recycled Things

With summer coming up thick and fast you might want to consider getting a new bench for the garden. But why spend money when you can make one from various things that you might throw away? These ten garden benches are all made from things that have been repurposed, recycled and of course, reused…

10 – Skis

While the main bench itself is new it is the back and main seating part that is made up of the skis. If you used to hit the slopes a lot, but now prefer the slopes of your garden this might be the perfect garden bench to hang up your winter life on.

9 – Cattle Trough

This old cattle trough is the perfect shape for a bench (a little bit cut out to make the seating part lower) and those little cup holders either side are perfect for a summers day sat in the garden admiring all your hard work.

It looks as if this bench rocks back and forth as well as being a good use for an old oil or liquid drum. Obviously, some metal work is needed here, but I love the style and idea of it.

With suspension springs for the legs and signs for the seating part this a great use of an old school bus, but some serious metal work skills will be needed to copy it.

6 – Skateboards

You’re going to need a lot of broken skateboards to make a whole bench from them, but if you have live near a skatepark I am sure they won’t be too hard to find.

It was pretty obvious to me that someone was going to turn an old wooden pallet into a garden bench and I dare say it looks pretty good as well with the slats of the pallet making the perfect seat and back parts.

A bathtub is a perfect shape to be reused as a bench, then all you need to take care of is a small cutout to sit in and the legs. I think this looks surprisingly comfortable!

3 – Babies Bed

Otherwise known as a “crib” this small babies bed makes a great bench for those who are not too heavy as I suspect it won’t take a whole lot of weight on it, but it looks nice anyway.

What was once a flatbed truck does seem to make for a pretty good garden bench to sit on in the summer and reminisce about all the fun times you had with the truck you are currently sat upon.

They were once used to ride the waves and now they are used to sit back and watch the tide come in. That is if you have a garden facing a beach!
