The other week I showed you how amazing playgrounds can be and indeed have become in my post “Top 10 Amazing Play Parks“, but there remains a constant in almost all playgrounds. A ride that has stood up to the test of time and taken on all comers by changing, adapting and remaining a kids favourite. I am of course talking about the see-saw and here are the very best examples of this playground classic…
10 – 2 is company, but 1 is a tilt!
First seen in my post “Top 10 Best Park Benches” this bench located in a park in Stockholm is a great example of how the humble seesaw has evolved. I think every public park should have at least one of these just for the comedy value of it.
9 – Picnic of Panic!
This idea that combines a wooden picnic table and a see-saw might look good on the outside, and it sure is amazing, but it would be utter chaos while trying to eat anything!
8 – Tyred of my new life.
For those with a good memory you will indeed have seen this same kind of idea before in my post “Top 10 Uses of old Tyres” but this one is a little bigger and would be great fun to make. It would be even better if done with a big tractor tyre!
7 – Sea-Ride!
This really is a genuine product that you or I can buy right now! It is most probably just as dangerous to ride as it looks, but I would also imagine an awful lot of fun as well.

6 – DIY fly!
It has to be said that this DIY see-saw it not a bad idea at all! Made from a large thick plank of wood, 2 plastic patio chairs and a few bolts it might well be worth trying to make one!
5 – Walk the plank!
The standing net scramble see-saw is one of the best designs you will see in playgrounds today. With a thick rope safety rail and lightweight, it is a great workout for kids and it has to be said that it looks rather cool as well.
4 – In the future!
These designer see-saws located in Berlin, Germany and made by a company called DS Landscape Architects they are clean looking and a nice touch of class to an otherwise very basic playground ride. It also goes to show the see-saw has a great future ahead!
3 – My kind of DIY!
Simple, effective and best of all is that it wouldn’t cost that much to make at all. For me, this DIY home-made seesaw is one of the best because anyone could all make one.

2 – The big one.
What you are looking at is officially the largest See-saw of the World! And at 79ft long and a maximum height of 3.53m off the ground, you are in for one very scary ride. For more info on this one do visit the link and check it out.
1 – The Ultimate Playground Ride.
Over this top 10 we have seen many shapes and forms of the humble see-saw, but none like this traditional one seen in Bali, Indonesia. With some of them supporting up to 8 people and a motion more like a Ferris wheel than a see-saw, it is simply amazing.
