While the rest of the world may be changing and more and more people are starting to read their newspapers via apps and online site, I still like a good old-fashioned newspaper. It gets me up early to go down the local newsagent, and it gives me something to share with friends after I have read it. But when you have loads of old newspapers what are you suppose to do with them? Well here are just 10 ideas to repurpose them…

OK, most of us will not be able to pull this off, let alone want to make a dress, but the idea is so good and creative that I just had to include it. There is a full image-driven making guide in the link to follow along with. But I won’t be making one because I just look ridiculous in a dress!

I am not one for gardening myself, but I do know a good idea when I see one. Just wrap the paper around a tin can and insert the seedlings. The bonus is that the newspaper will only hold the right amount of water than the plant needs meaning it won’t be overwatered.

There are various things made with this lattice style of newspaper folding, but I felt that this basket for putting various things it was the best of them all. There is a small making guide in the link, but all these cross folding paper crafts are much the same method. So in theory, once you make one thing, you can make loads of them.

Sadly the original blog post this was posted on is long gone, but the idea of using woven old newspapers and turning them into a ballet shoe gets my vote. I just wish I know how to do this sort of thing myself.

This is the same idea as many of them in my post “Top 10 ways to reuse wrapping paper” using old newspapers as gift wrap gives it a nice, hand-made touch that you otherwise might not get. And dare I say I think it looks good as well.

Many people will say you would have to be mad to put up pages from a newspaper as wallpaper, but I think it looks amazing! Then as an added bonus when you are laying in bed and can’t sleep you could read yesterday’s news and that is sure to send you off to snooze land.

Not only is this tree a great idea, but I think you could also scale it up into a big one! Maybe this coming Christmas I will have a go. But for now, these miniature ones would make great craft gifts to make and sell, or just kept to decorate your own home.

Sometimes the simplest ideas are the best, and that is certainly true about this idea. Just roll them up, band them together and hey presto the furniture it made! Well, there might be a bit more to it than that, but I am sure the rest is just fussy design bits.

But what this idea is, is cheap, easy and full of creativity. but all these are ideas are like that, so why did it become my number 1?
