Top 10 Creative and Unusual Mail Boxes

Today’s blog post comes about because while I and the family were out having a lazy summer drive about, I saw something that I have never seen before. (well not in the UK anyway) I saw a mailbox! It was nothing amazing, in fact, it was just a plain white postal box and nothing more, but in the UK we get our post put through the letter box. So in honour of the one person in Wales, UK with a US Mailbox I bring you…

Top 10 Creative and Unusual Mail Boxes

Mannequin Mailbox

10 – The perfect Male Model

This rather odd-looking mannequin mailbox is sure to scare the postman and anyone that would be driving past the house. So if you are a model this might well be the one for you.

Gun Mailbox

9 – Don’t shoot the messenger!

We all hate bills coming into our mailboxes but this is just going too far! But it has to be said that this oversized gun mailbox is also rather creative and is sure to make the mail mad smile as he stares down the barrel of it each and every morning.

8 – The Postman Says “cheese!”

Perfect for receiving all those holiday image prints back is this cool mailbox shaped like a camera. It would also be the perfect box for any budding photographer.

Apple Mac Mailbox

7 – From E-Mail back to Snail Mail

With the invention of E-Mail, there has hardly been a need for much real post anymore (apart from adverts and bills) so it makes my smile see a mac that was used to read all sort of E-Mail now being used as a Snail Mailbox. Well, it amused me anyway.

6 – Home DIY

Do you like doing DIY? Well, why not show off your DIY skills and make something like this rather impressive hammer shaped mailbox! I wish I had even half the skill needed to make this, but sadly I don’t. But I do think it is cool anyway.

Scorpion Mailbox

5 – If the postman post bills, sting him!

Slightly creepy, but also slightly awesome looking is this very creative scorpion-shaped mailbox. Perfect if you like collecting them, or maybe you are a Scorpio this could be the one for you.

Plane Mailbox

4 – Air Mail!

What I like about this one, is the fuselage has the perfect shape to be a mailbox, so all you have to do is create the plane shape, a flap in front and it is job done! This would be perfect for any pilot or plane enthusiast.

X-Wing mailbox

3 – “The mailbox flap is stuck!? Just tell the postman to use more force!”

No matter what way you look at this, it is cool. From the design, the nerdiness, just the fact that someone made it! It all smells of a nerd but also smells of EPIC WIN!

2 – Mail Filter on!

If there is one thing that gets my back up, it is the amount of real-life junk mail I get. From readers digest to “scratch here for a million pounds!” they are all pointless. The only reason that this wouldn’t work is that I would want all the bills put in the spam box.

Mater mailbox

1 – “He did WHAT in his cup?”

This made me smile the moment I saw it. If you live in Radiator Springs or just a big fan of the films this could well be the World’s best mailbox. If I was a postman and I saw this, it would certainly brighten up my day. If only I had the creative skills to make one myself.

  5. Love these unique mailboxes. I have a friend with a gargoyle mailbox that attracks a lot of attention. Of course, she writes fantasy tales.

  6. This is the right blog for anyone who wants to find out about this topic. You realize so much its almost hard to argue with you (not that I actually would want…HaHa). You definitely put a new spin on a topic thats been written about for years. Great stuff, just great!

  7. Omg!?!?!? The Xwing ROCKS. it’s freakingfantastic!!! (I’m a scifi nerd shhhhh don’t tell)

  8. I do indeed offer free guest post each Sunday. (next free one is 30th June) All I ask is that it is 100% family friendly, in a top 10 format and very visual with at least 10 images. (For a rough guide look back over all the Sunday guest posts ) The rest is 100% up to you!

  9. Haha, some amazing ones here. The scorpion one is the one I’d go for, I think, although the gun one is particularly menacing. If you lived in a rough neighbourhood I suppose you’d be best to choose that thing.

Also, if you’re kind enough to offer them, I have a few Guest Posting ideas. Something fun and quirky would go down well, I think! I’m a blogger and article writer so one is fairly adept at shifting the old copy out. Innit.

  10. My father had a police issue 38 which I grew up around. My husband was a gun lover and enthusiast. His love was the high power like the AK-47. My taste leans toward handguns myself. My dream is to own the judge handgun which can shoot both regular bullets and shotgun shells. It is one of the deadliest handguns around. I live just outside of Chicago and you can never be too careful!. 🙂

  11. Haven’t left the estate since arriving, which is fine because I don’t really need to I suppose. I’m a bit of a home bug 🙂 I haven’t even played on the tennis courts or swam in the outdoor pool (and it is quite warm here). The plugins are strange. I don’t miss the English garden spi***s which loved Harrowgaite as it is quite old. I’m sure there is more to America than this but I haven’t seen it yet. Thanks for asking L x

  12. You’re welcome Russell and it’s always great fun to visit your blog. Thanks for all your hard work. Much appreciated. 😀

  13. Well, I think I actually like #2, Inbox/Spam, but I don’t think the postal person would bother to separate… 🙂

  14. You know I think the gun mailbox is the best. Any person like me who is a gun enthusiast can really appreciate this for the sheer creativity. The fact that it is so sturdy is also a plus. 🙂

  15. Loved the Spam/Inbox one – how apropos! They are all clever, the creativity of the human mind knows no bounds. Unfortunately in my neighborhood we have had mail stolen, so the Post Office has installed large boxes with locks that accommodate quite a few mailboxes. Security is more important than creativity.

  16. yeah, loved inbox/spam – in the UK, we still have letter boxes embedded in our doors, but there are lots of creative/polite/frankly f.o. offensive notes to junk mail fly posters – who often don’t read english (bad crappy job syndrome) …a future post, possibly. worst thing is, half of the junk comes via the official postperson – have thankfully trained mine not to bother at my door.

  17. Now that we moved to America we have a “mailbox”. Mind the postman isn’t allowed past the gates. I love the inbox and spam one! Quite funny 🙂

  18. There are lots of crazy mailboxes in New Zealand, I’ve seen microwaves, digger arms, camper vans, birds but the best I have seen was a massive metal dragon. It’s fun going for a drive and trying to spot them 🙂

  19. Excellent post and it’s between the iMac and the creative mailbox. I am a huge apple fan, so the iMac would be perfect. The others are amazing and so much thought and effort have been put in for a simple post box. Ivan.

  20. Love the creative mailbox and Mater is pretty good too. If we had Mater my 3 year old son would probably crawl inside it and quite possibly stay there for a while!

  21. All of them were pretty creative. I like the spam one the best though. I get those alot, but like you I would want the mailman to put the bills in there. ha! 🙂

Which one did you like?
