Top 10 Strange and Unusual Painted Cats

For this Caturday post, I started with a single image of a cat with what looks like a pattern of a cat on it’s back! Could I really find 9 more just like it?!? Well, it seems it was something that people are calling “Cat Painting” and if that sounds weird it is because it IS weird. I have no idea if they are real or not, but some of them look rather amazing indeed…

  1. How did I miss THIS one?! Hard to choose…probably the last two- especially revenge paint job…

  2. agreed… I googled and can you believe that I can’t find any other painted kitty pokemons? Where’s Squirtle? Charmander? Jigglypuff even?

  3. This is so strange! But at the same time, it makes me want to get a cat just to paint it to look like Pikachu…

  4. Just random stripes. I stuck my fingers into the paint jars and just shmeared it all over the cat (who was pure white btw) 😀 My aunt (who’s also a crazy cat lady like me) thought it was hilarious.

  5. This is SO strange and yet SO cool at the same time. I’ve actually painted a real cat before (granted I was 9 years old using non toxic luminous paint and my aunt said I could, lol). Thanks for sharing this!

  6. Real or not, these are amazing looking cats! I wonder how many attempt to do that home after seeing pictures like that on internet haha.
If i had a cat… Oh my! Ha!

  7. I AM a softy, and I don’t hide it 🙂 I think you must read my blog from the beginning Mr Deasley, here and there has painted a misrepresented image L x

  8. No.7 is definitely NOT amused! No.2 is a very clever halloween idea… not that I would ever paint any animal but I agree with you, I reckon they are photo shopped! Looking forward to the doggy posts! 🙂

  9. I just wish more people would think the way you did when you saw it, over on Facebook people went nuclear despite me trying to tell them how unlikely it was that they were real. has the internet made us to believe anything?!?

  10. These have to be Photoshopped, unless the ‘painters’ sedated their cats. Just try getting a cat to sit still when you want it to.
So some clever image work, and none the worse for that. The Stars and Stripes one is disturbing

  11. There’s nowt so weird as folk – it’s said up North! I don’t think either of my cats would sit still long enough to be defaced. Although some of those paintings are very clever. I did try spray painting my dog’s tail when I had some hair dye left over after a party. She wags too much and most of the spray ended up on the floor.

  12. I personally am about 80% sure they have been photoshopped but you just never know. This was a very controversial post for me to put out there, but I think it has been worth it.

  13. I like the one you found first with the apparent cat on its back but I don’t like the other, even if they are Photoshopped. Maybe it’s something to do with me being a cat lover.

  14. Well it gets people talking about my blog which is a good thing no matter what. And I agree with you about the snail and indeed all of them, no matter if they are real or not, they all look amazing.

  15. I am a total dog lover so usually I don’t pay much attention to your cat posts. (Hey, why don’t dogs get equal time!) This post however, made me smile just from how cool some of the cats look. I bet you could get some unusual colorings and markings on dogs too. Hint hint hint. LOL 🙂

  16. Yahoo! Let the fur fly! Looks like this topic started a real uproar. I hope I didn’t earn you any haters with my pick. Ethics aside, whoever did the art on the snail kitty was brilliant.

  17. Hilarious, they’re all amazing, but the snail is marvellous! Now I’ve seen this, I can be anyone I want… Let’s start with black… Pawkisses for the weekend 🙂

  18. *Me laughing uproariously*

You’ve hit that nail on the head with great accuracy.

The ability to push our posts to Facebook is a wonderful thing, is it not? 🙂

  19. With Facebook I know EXACTLY what you mean. But it is great news for me because to moan about it they often share it in order to show their friends that they are moaning about! Win, win for me then!

  20. *Snort* Why does that not surprise me?

I’m sure they all thought they were real painted cats.

Some folks just have no sense of “ha ha”.. know what I mean? 🙂

  21. Let’s see…

The original painted cat has made the rounds many times on the internet and was probably not altered in Photoshop.

Whoever did the paint job for the Navajo cat has some wild Photoshop skills! It would take me forever and a day to do that!

If the Leopard cat existed *and* I won the lottery, I would buy one in an instant!

And the pair of Celestial cats in the last picture are just plain cool to look at; even with the relatively simple paint job.

Great post Russell… I don’t know where the heck you find all these pictures for your lists, but keep up the great work!

  22. I’m inclined to believe the photoshopped aspect. I can’t begin to imagine a cat sitting while someone is trying to apply anything anywhere on their body! HA! I speak from personal experience, of course. PS: you once asked about my dogs. They’re on my most recent post if you get a chance. livingwithmyancestors.wordpress.com

  23. Makes for fun pics to look at but I think most of them have to be photoshopped. No cat would sit still or tolerate that. And it would be cruel I think. The one with the cat on it’s back looks to be it’s own fur and the one with the heart on it’s face. Those are the coolest.

  24. hahahaaaaaaa!poor cat probably had to sit still for long to be painted like that.and it is a masterpiece but yeah now am really hoping its Photoshopped.for the cat’s sake 🙂

  25. I am gobsmacked by Navajo cat – though the look says “You have got to be kidding!” rather than looking to smoke the peace pipe. I get a charge out of Percy, watch out dog, you’re going to be toast. They are all quite interesting and unusual, never thought a cat would sit still and be painted. I admire the skill and imagination not only for designs but also for taming their canvas.

  26. All the cats er beautiful and I choose, this painting were in photoshop. Otherwise to cruel to the cats. Just think what happens, when they need the paint away again. Thanks for sharing.

  27. This just is a tad too weird for me. I dont even like any paint or a lot of peircing on my own body.

Which one did you like?
