They called them ‘miw’ and as a result of their closeness and indeed deep fondness with our feline friends they went into mourning whenever a ‘miw’ passed away, much like we would do when we lose our pets now. It was also thought that when the ‘miw” passed away they would create a rainbow! So without further ado, and because it is Caturday after all I bring you…

  9. Russell–I just want to tell you how much I appreciate your blog. I follow a number of blogs, but I have all of the others arrive as a weekly archive on Saturday (when I have the weekend to browse through the posts). I have yours arrive in my inbox daily. I know that when I click on the e-mail notice of your posts I am going to be greatly amused, astounded, entertained (or all three at once). Your posts are always well illustrated by photos on the topic, and your captions are a delight. Thank you for all of the time and effort you put into this labor of love. (My blog is also a labor of love, so I recognize one when I see one.) Your blog is a joy to follow.

  10. Haha! #1 is too funny!

By the way, I’m not sure why, but I can’t see your posts in my reader feed. Wonder if I’m the only one with this problem.

  11. Haha, once you’ve heard it, it will burrow away, into your brain, and spring out whenever you least expect it. A bit like Fuzzy Fuzzy Cute Cute…..

  12. Yes, it’s way too catchy and gets in your head. It reminds me of the videos by Parry Gripp, like “Baby Monkey (Going Backwards On A Pig)” and “Nom Nom Nom Nom Nom Nom Nom”. So cute!

For those of you who have read my first book The Golden Scarab, you’ll know how the cats in ancient Egypt are part of the story. One of the characters in the book is a cat named Mau. He wanted me to share this post with you all.

  15. #4 is the best, so unexpected (maybe because I was brought up as a good girl). I love all of them, I have not seen any photos like this before – once again you have shown me something new. Right on Russell!

  16. Hmmm I have yet to find a rainbow on either of my cats. I think they are holding out on me. I will keep a closer eye on them, unless of course they don’t want me to. Not that they run the house you see, it’s just, well, nevermind. 😉
